TRAUMA BEHAVIORAL HEALTH SPECIALIST

The Trauma Behavioral Health Specialist™ certification program is designed to provide behavioral health professionals with the knowledge and skills necessary to become proficient in evidence-based practices for supporting and treating individuals and communities impacted by trauma. The program is ideal for professionals who have earned a graduate degree (or higher) and are dedicated to advancing their skills in the field of traumatology.

Certified Trauma Coach

Objectives of the certification program include:

  • Developing a comprehensive understanding of the various types of trauma and their impact on individuals and communities. 

  • Acquiring knowledge of evidence-based practices for assessment, intervention, and treatment of trauma.

  • Building skills in providing trauma-informed care and support to traumatized individuals and communities, with a focus on cultural humility and sensitivity.

  • Learning effective strategies for working collaboratively with other professionals, such as medical providers, social workers, and mental health practitioners, to provide comprehensive care to clients.

  • Gaining expertise in implementing trauma-focused interventions and programs within a variety of settings, including clinical, educational, and community-based environments.

  • Building an ethical and legal foundation for trauma-informed care and practice.

  • Demonstrating proficiency in trauma-focused research, evaluation, and program development.

 

Upon completion of the Trauma Behavioral Health Specialist™ certification program, professionals will have the skills and knowledge necessary to provide high-quality trauma-informed care and support to individuals and communities impacted by trauma. They will also be equipped to serve as leaders in the field of traumatology, advocating for evidence-based practices and working to advance the field through research and program development.
